After qualifying, Alan spent over 2 years working for the National Health Service in the south of England. He completed several junior rotations before being promoted to senior physiotherapist working primarily in musculoskeletal outpatients and rheumatology. Alan also began working with a number of high level sports teams, including semi-professional club Worthing RFC and then the youth academy of professional football club Milton Keynes Dons FC.

Alan returned to Ireland in 2013 and immediately began working in a number of clinics throughout Dublin. He continued his professional development completing courses in clinical whiplash and neck pain, ACL injury and prevention, Evidence based soft tissue skills, Shoulder Masterclass, Running Repairs and gait analysis, Management of lower limb tendonopathies to name but a few.

Alan set up Portmarnock Physiotherapy with his cousin Robert originally working out of Naomh Mearnog Gaa club. As Robert relocated to work closer to home in South Dublin, Alan continued to grow the business and eventually relocated to Kingsford Medical from 2017 to 2022. By the end of 2022 it was time to move again, thankfully only around the corner. Portmarnock Physiotherapy is now located on strand road in the heart of the village in a purpose built unit with 2 clinic rooms and a gym space. Alan is delighted to be able to offer the people of Portmarnock and surrounding areas access to a modern evidence based Physiotherapy clinic with highly trained and skilled staff with a lot of experience.
